Dr. Thomas L. Nixt, a devoted pediatrician, passed away at 79 due to complications from multiple sclerosis on January 24, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. Having served Guam for over two decades, Dr. Nixt left behind a profound legacy of love, compassion, and healing. A graduate of renowned medical institutions, he chose Guam as his home, actively engaging in educational programs and contributing to philanthropic causes. Dr. Nixt's impact extended beyond the clinic, touching the lives of many families at his pediatric clinic. Known for his infectious smile and lighthearted manner, Dr. Nixt's positive influence on the island continues to resonate through generations. His favorite phrase at the clinic, "You have a good baby here!" reflects his dedication to his young patients and their families. Survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Sheryl Nixt, his son Matt Nixt and his wife Jenny, his daughter Angela Lee with her husband Doug, five grandchildren: Anjelica, Alexandra (spouse Austin), Adrian (spouse Deante), Mason and Logan, and three great-grandchildren Ever, East and Ames. Dr. Nixt's memory is cherished by many loyal friends and extended family members. Even in his final moments, Dr. Nixt maintained his humor, sharing jokes with his nurses and family. His beautiful hair, contagious smile, and zest for life remain enduring memories. In Grandpa’s own words, “The practice is closed forever,” marking the end of an era for a beloved island pediatrician.
