Rodger Hawkins
Tribute
Rodger was a wonderful husband. We would've been married 30 years in August 2025. He was 39 and I was 29, almost 30 when we got married, so there was probably teasing amongst his family that he FINALLY got married. Hee Hee. Rodger loved his sports and enjoyed watching KC Royals & Chiefs, NY Yankees, and the Missouri Tigers. He'd watch the games with such intensity, studying each play. He had such a love for his family and tried to encourage gatherings as often as possible. He was also such a giving person, helping family and friends if he could whenever needed, which was one of the things that made me fall in love with him. He was lucky enough to have 2 good friends for decades right up until the end. He'd stay in touch with people that he had either gone to school with or worked with over the decades as well. He was diagnosed with a rare form of colon cancer in July 2023 and it was soon Stage 4 as it had spread to his liver. He had gone through chemo, then in January 2025 we were told his cancer had spread to his pelvis and there was nothing more the cancer center could do. He claimed Jesus as his Lord & Savior so based on scripture I believe his soul is with his Savior now.
