Tribute

Richard Stevens born Richard Steven Zelma on August 2, 1955, sadly passed away on June 30, 2023. Richard was born in New York City to parents Alice and Nandor Zelma, Hungarian Jewish immigrants. Richard was captain of the Basketball team in High School (high scorer and rebounder); President of his senior class; received a BA from Stonybrook University and was a moot court champion while attending Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles and receiving a Juris Doctor degree. He had been practicing attorney admitted in New York and California and enjoyed all aspects of the practice and study of law. In 1984 Richard suffered a major head trauma at the age of 27, when as a pedestrian, he was struck by a car (hit and run) resulting in a skull fracture and major cognitive loss that affected him for the rest of his life. Richard is survived by his older brother George and his sister-in-law Pearl and niece and nephew Elizabeth and Thomas and dear cousins and friends in the US and France.
