Randall Powell
Tribute
Randall Powell, 71, of Tampa, FL passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Born on March 9, 1953 in Richmond, KY, to Everett & Minnie Powell, he was a loving son, brother to Ricky, Leta, Ray & Charlotte, devoted husband to Bertha, and loving father to Nancy, Randy, and Delilah. To know Randall was to love him. He loved his family & friends. He loved to bowl and fish, and was a big fan of Kentucky Basketball (Go Cats!). He was a source of encouragement and faith to anyone he talked to. He always saw the best in people and circumstances, and it wouldn’t be uncommon to hear him say, “it’s in God’s hands”. Whether it was an impending hurricane or a car problem—he knew he could trust God, and he wanted you to as well. Randall was hard-working and dedicated, but he’d rather be known by how much he loved people and loved life. He was a man of kindness, generosity, and faith, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bertha Powell, his daughters Nancy Powell and Delilah Powell-Smith (Robert), his grandchildren Deryck Jones, Xzayvier Ford-Smith, Mekyla Martin (Jeremiah), Kreid Smith, Karis Smith, Kamin Smith and Kennen Smith; as well as his siblings, Ricky Powell, Ray Powell, Charlotte Elam, and a cousin who was as close as a brother, Shelton Powell, as well as many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Powell; parents, Minnie and Everett Powell; and sister, Leta Powell. Randall, affectionately known as Randy, or “Papa Smurf”, will be missed dearly. His sweet spirit, infectious smile, and cheerful disposition will not soon be forgotten.
