Lojan Eve LaRowe, aged 79, passed away on March 6, 2025, in McHenry IL. Lojan was born on April 7, 1945, in Elyris, Ohio. She is survived by her husband, Clark Barshinger; sister, Janel Gillis; and brother, Dorian LaRowe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane Vandergraft- Larowe and Elrow LaRowe. Lojan dedicated much of her life to the field of psychology and education, profoundly impacting those around her through her works and teachings. Lojan's career was marked by significant contributions to mental health and education. She served as a psychologist and co-founder of Cherry Hill Counseling Center in Lake Zurich, IL for over 35 years. Earlier in her career, she taught Jr. High English literature in Deerfield, IL, and was a college psychology counselor and instructor at Trinity College in Deerfield, IL. Lojan was also a co-founder of the San Francisco Externship Program with Trinity College. Her literary contributions include co-authoring the book "Haunted Marriage” published by IVP Press. She was a respected lecturer and led numerous retreats focusing on faith, psychology, and women's issues. An actively involved member of the Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry, IL, Lojan embodied her faith in her daily life and community interactions. Her commitment to her church and community was a testament to her deep faith and dedication. Lojan's hobbies and interests painted the picture of a rich and vibrant life. She had a deep appreciation for poetry, literature, and was passionate about breeding and showing Siberian Huskies, Friesian Horses, and Maine Coon cats. Her home was a reflection of her love for Old World charm, adorned with lace, flowers, and art, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Her love for animals was evident, as she cared for various breeds of chickens, doves, peacocks, and Kentucky Bourbon turkeys. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry, IL, on April 6, 2025, from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Feed the Children, Amnesty International, and Compassion International. Lojan's legacy will continue to influence and inspire, remembered by all who knew her as a compassionate individual deeply committed to her profession, faith, and community.
