Larry Dingethal
Tribute
Lawrence "Larry" S. Dingethal, aged 61, passed away peacefully at his home in Bourbonnais, Illinois, on December 10, 2024, with his beloved wife of 16 years, Robyn, by his side. Born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Larry was the cherished only child of the late William and Sally (Yoshii) Dingethal. A proud alumnus of Delhaas High School, class of 1980, Larry went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Navy, where he spent six years aboard three submarines. His career path later led him to the Nucor Steel family, where he held various positions in Memphis, Tennessee; Wallingford, Connecticut; and Kankakee, Illinois. Larry was a man of many passions. He found joy in bowling, fishing, poker, and travel, but his greatest love was cooking. This passion inspired him to cultivate his own gardens and experiment with smoking meats and making sausages. He even ventured into baking and pasta-making, delighting friends and family with his culinary creations. Larry shared a special bond with Robyn's daughters, Monique and Katelyn, and their families, embracing them as his own. A devoted cat enthusiast, he was a loving "cat dad" to his two cherished companions, Prince and Cinder. In his final act of generosity, Larry chose to donate his body to scientific research, hoping to contribute to breakthroughs in understanding the health challenges he faced, including pancreatic cancer. His legacy of kindness and curiosity will continue to inspire those who knew him. Larry's life was a testament to his belief in the power of math and science, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
