Born on July 23, 1959, in Ottawa, Il, Kim pursued his education at DeVry University in Long Beach, CA, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Management. His career as an aircraft engineer spanned over 35 years with McDonnell Douglas and later Boeing, where his expertise and dedication left a lasting impact. Kim possessed remarkable creativity and skill. Whether working with wood, crafting intricate technical electronic drawings, or tackling engineering challenges, he approached every project with ingenuity and passion. His ability to build, fix, and create was unmatched, and he applied the same precision to drawing as he did to his technical work. Beyond his talents, Kim was known for his humor, loyalty, and strong moral compass. His unwavering ethics guided him through life, and his love for his family was evident in all he did.

Friends & Family

Kim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rita, his daughter Meghan Cervantes, and her husband Javier Cervantes; his grandson Henry Cervantes; his son Derek Nordtvedt, Senior Chief Petty Officer, First Class, US Navy, and his wife Lindsey Nordtvedt; his granddaughter Raelynn Nordtvedt. He is also survived by his siblings Sherry Winchell, Marlene Johnson, and Kevin Nordtvedt.
