Kenneth Norman Mast, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a life well-lived. Born on December 27, 1933, in Glendale, California, Kenneth was the beloved son of Randall Norman Mast (Robert Randall Mast) and Alice Parker Mast. He grew up in Downey, California. His early years were marked by a curious mind and a compassionate heart, traits that would define him throughout his life. Kenneth spent most of his life as a taxi driver, a profession he loved dearly. He enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life, hearing their stories, and sharing his own. His friendly demeanor and genuine interest in others endeared him to passengers and colleagues alike. In addition to his career as a taxi driver, Kenneth was a talented author, penning several books that inspired and enlightened readers around the world. His literary contributions reflected his depth of knowledge, creativity, and passion. Kenneth was also a gifted singer, finding joy in music throughout his life. He sang in multiple barbershop quartets and led several Sweet Adelines groups, sharing his love for harmony with others and enriching the lives of those around him. Throughout his life, Kenneth believed strongly in social justice and equality for every person. He considered all men to be his brothers and women to be his sisters, advocating for fairness and inclusivity in all aspects of society. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Randall Norman Mast and Alice Parker Mast, as well as his stepmother, Frances Mardelle Mast. He was also preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Susan Mast Miller and Phyllis Stimple, both of whom were much loved by him. Kenneth leaves behind his sister, Sylvia (Jefferey) Mast Bernard of Iowa, his beloved niece Danita Scott of California, his niece Dina (Howard) Brown of Texas, and nephews Michael (Kristine) Young of California and Steven (Tammy) Prentice of Colorado. Also mourning his loss is his dear family friend Andrew Doel of Colorado. Kenneth passed away in Lafayette, Colorado, surrounded by his loved ones. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Kenneth Norman Mast will be remembered for his kindness, his compassion, his service to his country, his literary contributions, his musical talents, his advocacy for social justice and equality, his love for meeting people as a taxi driver, and the love he shared with everyone he met. May he rest in peace.
