Jean Wagner
Tribute
Jean was a bundle of energy who touched many lives. She loved people and befriended many. She outlived 2 husbands, and had 6 children with the first 18 yrs between the oldest and youngest! She was born in Indianapolis, and lived near Chicago when 1st husband flew for United Airlines, then was transferred to Boston, then again to JFK. They came to Tucson from Connecticut. Jean showed hunter/jumper horses until Stephens College, then gaited horses. She had a lifelong interested in dance, especially ballet, and served on the UA Dance Board in Tucson, helping to bring the Steve Eller Dance Theater into reality. She took up golf with her 1st husband and tennis with the 2nd (at age 68). Other interests were bridge, knitting, piano, and yoga. Jean was a docent at Tohono Chul Park and a long-time member of St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal church, serving on the Alter Guild. She volunteered with Literacy Connects, was a lifetime member of Skyline Country Club and was a patron of the Arizona Theater Company and Tucson Symphony Orchestra. She is survived by 2 daughters in Tucson and 4 sons back East. There are 15 grandchildren and at least 9 great-grandchildren.
