Itala Louise Fell
Tribute
Itala Louise FellNovember 19, 1925 – December 20, 2021Our mum, Louise, was born in Plainfield, New Jersey to Louise and Arturo deVitalis. She grew up and went to school there, moving to Summit, New Jersey after marrying our father, Romley Fell, who was her singing teacher. In 1962 they took the brave step of emigrating to Guernsey in the Channel Islands, settling us, their three young daughters, there and continuing to enjoy their passion for singing. Our parents were popular members of the Guernsey Choral Society, where mum was a soprano soloist. She performed in many concerts there, her voice being absolutely beautiful. We have wonderful memories of her singing around the house, always. Our mum was a housewife, bringing us up with discipline, regular chores, music, love, and laughter. She and our father ran a Guest House from their home on Guernsey for many years, where she astounded guests with her excellent culinary skills. Our mother was an outstanding cook.Following our father’s death in 1967 and, when we, her daughters left the Island to go on to further education in England, mum moved to Manchester to be near Daddy’s family, where she turned her talent to another successful career as a Financial Advisor.During this time, Lydia, her youngest, returned to the States to settle in Florida, producing mum’s first four grandchildren. It was with her grandchildren that our mum spent every summer on the beach, forging strong, loving relationships with them.Ten years ago, she relocated to Florida to be near Lydia and was able to continue her loving relationship with her grandchildren, who then had children of their own, all of whom brought her great joy. It was with love and devotion that two of them, Jessica and Emily, with Lydia, were with our mum in her final days.It was mum’s greatest wish to be able to donate her body for research on her death, and we are very proud to have enabled this for her and are grateful to Science Care for fulfilling her wish.
