Tribute

Evelyn Nowack, known to friends and family as Karin, was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 8, 1932. Her family often moved when she was a young child, but eventually settled in Baltimore County, MD where her father worked for Glenn L. Martin Company. Both sides of her family were Moravian and the rich history of the Moravian church was a large part of her childhood. She graduated from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) with a B.S. in Psychology. She also attended the Philadelphia School of Occupational Therapy. She worked in a private psychiatric hospital before moving to Washington, PA taking a position at Mayview State Hospital. In 1963, she and her husband adopted two children and moved to Hagerstown, MD. She became a certified psychodrama practitioner and participated in both therapy and training sessions. She earned her MSW in clinical social work in 1983 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She worked in various roles for the state of Maryland. She moved to Quincy Retirement Village after her retirement in 2011. Karin was passionate about gardening, art and music. She was always surrounded by many friends from work, church, and her family. She remained very close to college roommates and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed reading, travel and educational experiences.

Karin is survived by her brother Lorenz Nowack and his wife Helen of Quincy, PA; her sister Carla Hendricks of Quincy, PA, her daughter Laura Warner of Baltimore, MD, son David Warner and his wife Deryn of Moose Lake, MN, grandchildren Whesley Warner and his wife Kristi of Hollister, CA, Ryan Warner of Chesapeake, VA and Tanner Warner of Cloquet, MN.
