Tribute

Bruce J. Ostrout Sr, passed away on June 5th, 2024 due to complications that arose during his 5-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and resilience. Bruce was a devoted family man. His love for his family was great and he cherished every moment spent with them. His patience and quiet strength were a testament to his character. Bruce lived his life devoted to his wife and his loved ones and he made sure they felt it every day. He was not only a man of few words but also a man of great empathy. When he did speak, he would always ask about others and how they were doing never focusing on himself. Beyond his family and friends, Bruce had a passion for world history, family genealogy and sports. Whether it was discussing historical events, who you were a descendant of or cheering for his favorite teams, he always found great joy in sharing these interests with others. Bruce also achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first deaf person to work for the US Postal Service, where he served for over 40 years. His commitment and hard work inspired others and he was beloved by his coworkers. Being a student and athlete at Florida School for the Deaf and subsequently Gallaudet University, Bruce formed lifelong friendships with so many of his fellow students. These bonds remained strong throughout his life. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, two sons, their wives, and his five cherished grandchildren. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, 🕊️
